On Saturday 13th January five Pegasus athletes made the trip from Coleraine to Moria for the Lisburn AC cross-country promotion.
With strong headwinds mixed with a bit of rain and boggy conditions underfoot it was ideal conditions for the mud lovers.
The ladies were first to go running 3 one-mile laps of the relatively flat course. Representing the club were Tess McComb
and Linda Gillen. Both girls set off at a strong pace and done the club proud finishing in times of 22.39 for Tess and 24.26
for Linda who is just coming back from injury. Overall winner was pre race favourite Kelly Reid from the host club.
Next it was the turn of the men who had to run 4 laps of the course Stefan Schmid of St Malachys lead from the start and
came home in a time of 21.50.
Chris Denton was the first of the Pegasus men to finish, crossing the line in 24.32 to claim 16th place, Harry Reilly was
next with a P.B for this race clocking a super 26.31. Running his first official race for Pegasus was Kyle Millar, after a
fast start Kyle settled into a steady pace and recorded a commendable 29.26.
Performance of the day goes to Tess Mccomb who claimed 2nd place in her category; watch this space as I’m sure Tess
will be claiming many more prizes throughout the year. Thanks to Lisburn AC for a well-organised and enjoyable day.
