Forward
from the head of the Society: The Northern Ireland Boxer Rescue Society was formed
on 12th October 1996 by a group of concerned boxer owners and breeders. Our aim
is to help the welfare of the Boxer Breed - specifically those that through no fault of their own become homeless, whether
this occurs due to a change in the owner’s circumstances or because they have been callously abused or abandoned.
All
dogs being re-homed are required to be neutered and vaccinated as a condition of adoption and we do enforce this carefully.
Anyone wishing to re home a boxer from us will be thoroughly home checked, and decisions regarding re-homing, will be made
by our committee.
We
are not for profit, and any funds that we receive go directly to rescue and the boxers that we care for. We follow up every
dog that we home. They are visited by us after 6-8 weeks in their new home and
thereafter keep constant contact for the rest of the boxer’s life.
All
the people on our list have been "home checked" and approved by our committee members who complete a detailed questionnaire
to help us select the right home for a particular dog.
As
with all rescue organisations, we depend on donations through car boot sales, raffle tickets and the like, to help us meet
the ongoing kennel and veterinary fees.
Please
remember, no donation is ever too small, we were delighted to hear from Pegasus AC when they decided to make Northern Ireland
Boxer Rescue this year’s recipient of their Charity Boxing Day Fun Run. Visit
www.niboxerrescue.co.uk for more information.
In
October last year Shirley Park, a member of Pegasus AC contacted the Society about adopting one of the dogs on the site after
going through the home check process it happened that 'MAX' and the Park family were a great match, an MAX on the 12th of
December last year.
Pegasus
AC would like to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this Boxing Day Event and would love to make it a family affair
with only £10 per family (2 adults and up to 4 children) for the 3 mile walk / run or £3 per person, and £5 for the 4.5 mile
run. All well behaved family pets are welcome to accompany their owners for £2
and there will be mulled wine and juice for after the event. So get down to Rugby
Avenue, Coleraine before 10.45 for the 11.00 start on Boxing Day and work off all the turkey from Christmas day..!
