Pegasus AC at the Malcolm Cup!

Last Saturday saw 3 Pegasus athletes in attendance at the Annadale Striders promoted Malcolm Cup cross country. Neil Johnston, Jason Wilson and Harry Reilly were all involved in the day’s races.

First up was Neil Johnston, who was running in the Under 17 3 mile race against 25 other keen competitors. The outstanding young runner has been a revelation since taking up running at the start of year, with appearances at All-Ireland Age Group level in cross country and the track. He stayed in the lead group the whole way, with runners dropping out of the lead group every few hundred metres until it was only him and another runner. Unfortunately, the last 150m saw Neil just loose out in a sprint finish but 2^nd position (17.23) was still a great result! The main Senior / Under 20 Men’s race saw 41 go all out over 4 miles. Jason managed to battle home in 31^st (25.33) while Harry (the Marathon man) wasn’t far behind at all in 33^rd (25.55). Dairmuid Grant (City of Derry) won the race in a swift 21.46.
