Pegasus Junior back in action at Glenarm

Pegasus junior Jason Wilson finally returned back into the fold last Thursday after an 8 week lay off due to injury! He lined up in a relatively small but high quality field at the Glenarm Highland Games to compete in the Larne AC run mountain race.

With nearly 2 laps of the main arena to soak up the crowd’s applause, the runners set off on the 2.5 mile trek. The runners had the joy of running through the deep river leading to Glenarm village, a funny thought as most runners were wearing traditional kilts to add to the Highland Games atmosphere! Jason was in a comfortable top ten position at this point, and running up through the village, strengthened this position. The constant uphill twists and turns started to sap the strength out of the runners, and at the downhill turning point, the field was spread out.

In the run in, it was Paul Blaney of North Belfast Harriers ( 16:25) who edged out the win on Jarlath Falls of Ballymena and Antrim ( 16:30). Jason had taken a wrong turn just minutes before the finish, and slipped down a position or two as a result, but was still happy with 12 th overall in 18:24, and 7 th Male Open athlete.
