Pegasus AC runners were certainly out in force as a number of races throughout Northern Ireland have taken place over the
past few weeks, with the ever popular Lisburn Half Marathon/10km races attracting thousands their first target. The howling
winds certainly made the course all the more exciting, slowing and speeding it up in parts!
The duo of Shirley Park and Tessa McComb did the club proud in their first attempt at the dubious 13.1 miles!! Shirley
led Tessa home in 1:50:56 to the latter’s 1:51:59, very respectable times in which they managed to beat a few hundred
men in the process!
Our most seasoned runner, Chris Denton decided to give the 10km a crack, with Linda Gillen, Pamela Cochrane, Cathy Barr
and Alison McAfee all debuting over this distance. The outstanding performance of the night went to Chris, with 18 th and
36:13 an excellent result! Linda, our 1 st lady, finished with 51:16, a good bench mark on which to improve. Pamela came home
only a short time later in 52:46 (PB), with Cathy Barr 54:38 (PB) and 6 th Vet 45, and Alison McAfee in 58:12 last but certainly
not least. All our ladies finished in the top half of the strong field!
Harry “the Marathon man” Reilly took part in a shorter race than usual a few Saturdays ago, in the Randalstown
10km. He finished a superb 20 th out of over 100 runners, with 39:06. Peter Bell and Paul Gray also took part in the Jude
Gallagher “Round the Bridges” 10 miles, with Peter 3 rd Vet 50 in 1:07:46 and Paul 1:14:54, another set of good
results.
