Last Wednesday saw 8 Pegasus AC runners trying to uphold club honour in the prestigious Ecos 5, incorporating the NI 5
Mile Road Running Championships. It was the dawn of a new era for Pegasus, fielding a team of 5 ladies thanks to Shirley Park,
who has organised ladies training sessions in Coleraine over the past few months to bolster membership.
Leading the way for Pegasus as ever was Chris Denton in 22 nd and with a time of 28:25, saw him 3 seconds faster than last
year. Next up was the Portstewart’s Peter Bell, with a brilliant 4 th in the Vet 50s and a competitive time of 31:46
into the bargain. Harry Reilly wasn’t far behind, with Coleraine’s “ Marathon man” coming home in
32:15 PB.
Shirley Park came home a fighting 11 th overall in the ladies category, with 38:11 PB. Not far off Shirley was the 1 st
of our new members, Tess McComb in 16 th overall with 38:45. Linda Gillen, in her 1 st race ever race, came in the top 20
ladies with 39:47, a great result. 24 th Lady overall was Linda Gray, only coming back from an injury set back. Last but certainly
not least was Cathy Barr, a prize winner on the night in her 1 st ever race! 2 nd in the Vet 45s was a super result, and a
real confidence boost. With the Pegasus ladies 3 rd Overall in the team standings, it really was a brilliant night for Pegasus!
Thanks very much to Ballymena Runners for another superbly run race.
