Willowfield Harriers Seeley Cup 10K Road Race

On Saturday 26th November 2005 Pegasus AC sent six athletes to compete in the Northern Ireland 10k road race championships at Ormeau park Belfast. Organised by Willowfield Harriers this popular race attracted well over 400 runners and with the rain staying away conditions were good for the 3 ½ laps around the park.

With the best runners from across the province taking part it was no surprise that a fast pace was set right from the off and by the end of the first lap the pack was beginning to get spread out with Annadale and Willowfield battling for the honours.

As the race progressed it was clear that it would be a close finish and the eventual winner Paddy Hamilton of Annadale striders crossed the line in 30.40 with Paul Rowan of Willowfield a well earned 2nd in 30.54. Third place also went to an Annadale Strider, James Connor, with Kelly Reid of Lisburn AC winning the ladies race in 36.41.

Chris Denton lead the Pegasus runners home crossing the line in 36.20 followed by Harry Reily in 39.08, a P.B for Harry knocking 4 minutes off his time here last year.

3rd for the club was Michael Henry with another solid performance putting in a fine time of 40.28.

Linda Gray was the next finisher, making her debut in club colours Linda ran a well paced race and finished strongly in 52.21 looking fresh and ready for more. Next was Sean Hamilton, he started off at a reserved pace and upped the tempo as the race progressed to burst across the line in 52.33. The sixth member of the club to finish was Shirley Park, after a solid display at the Pegasus cross country last week Shirley continued with another solid display to finish in 56.01 and set herself a new P.B at this distance.
