A number of Pegasus members have been competing over various terrains over the past 2 weeks with no less than 12 members
out over the Maghera 10km and ‘Hill and Dale’ race down in the heart of the Mournes.
The Maghera 10km had a very respectable entry of 186 runners (including 11 Pegasus runners) last Tuesday to just show the
success of this Magherfelt Council run event. Chris Denton was top Pegasus performer with a competitive time of 36:49
to net him 11th place overall. Veronica Nellins managed an excellent 2nd Female overall in 43:20 with Sonia Know just
one place behind in 46:09. Linda Gillen managed to also gain 4th Female Open to compound this successful night for the
club! The veteran results include Tess McComb (49:28) and 4th Female Veteran 40 followed by Cathy Barr (50:11).
Other Pegasus results included Catherine Kelly (51:56), Gillian McMullan (52:02), Lorna Stynes in a new personal best of 54:14,
Donna Costello (55:11) and Debbie McLaughlin in 57:11. Congratulations to all runners involved in this very successful
excursion!
Pegasus junior Jason Wilson was out at the 7th round of the series held at Tullymore Forest Park 2 days after the Maghera
10km. The record 162 souls set off at 7:30pm down the ultra fast initial mile before the 1.5 mile climb to the summit
of the White plains, a breath taking view which can only be appreciated for no more than 5 seconds for the speeding top runners.
Jason managed an excellent 22nd overall and 1st junior athlete to compound his excellent NI international performance at Knockdhu
merely 3 weeks previously.
Visit www.pegasusac.co.uk for more information on club matters and useful athletics links. There are also Thursday night training sessions at
the track for junior athletes starting from 6.30 - 8.00pm. Why not come along and try your talents over a range of athletic
