This week will see Paul Gray and Peter Bell leave for the once in a life time adventure to the North Pole to compete in a
marathon with a difference! Paul won a Runners World photo competition which gained him an entry to the ‘World’s
Coolest Marathon’ whereas Peter thought, “Why not join him?!” This incoming Saturday will see these
2 locals compete against 20 other nations in this truly awe inspiring event.
To give you a taster of the uniqueness of this race, I will outline some facts. It has been recognised in the Guinness
Book of Records as the most Northerly marathon in the world, is officially sanctioned by the Association of International
Marathons as a legitimate marathon and is run entirely ‘on water’ (over the frozen ice sheets of the Arctic).
Paul’s main aim is to raise money for the NSPCC, with Peter raising money for Age Concern and also wanting to attempt
the ‘Marathon Grand Slam’ of a marathon on every continent. Both would like to thank those who have already
given generously to their causes.
All Pegasus AC members would like to wish both the very best of luck and hope for a pleasant experience
